My progress update using Wordpress Goldmine for Thursday 17th June 2010.
Ok, thought I’d post an update.
I have been doing all this internet marketing stuff, and being in a position where I can devote full time attention to it, having had a bit of cash in reserve to see me through.
One thing I hadn’t been doing was pinging, bookmarking, clipmarking and submitting the rss feeds for my “backlinks”.
DOH!
I’d done it for new blog posts, new sites but not for the backlinks.
To cut a long story short I’ve spent 6+ months creating backlinks and Im guessing a lot of them haven’t even been indexed…..!
All that effort..
Anyway, I am starting to work through them, at the same time as deal with writing website sales letters and articles.
Happy to report that my website is now number 1 in google for its main search term yay! “website sales letters”
Anyway, here are the earnings from yesterday:

Amazon £2.17
Clickbank £0.00
Other – promoting a new service generating $20/month in referral commissions. So far I am up to 6 referrals, as long as none cancel its potentially $120/month.

Progress Update On Wordpress Goldmine Earnings
I havent posted a progress update for a few weeks because there wasn’t a whole amount of need. The past 6 weeks or so are basically when I have started full time at this. I am still earning but the more I learn the more I earn.
Adsense:
Back in April I earned £5.48 adsense in May I have earned £4.91 June so far its at £2.51 – it’s good to know that things tend to follow a certain ongoing continual path and I’m happy to know that basically what I am doing is slowly building a passive income empire. I know some people scoff and laugh at the earnings but everyone has to start somewhere. Ive never claimed to be the fastest but I certainly understand the rules.
Amazon:
April was $7.04, May was $3.76 and June so far is just $0.54 – Not sure what to say on that, maybe Ive encountered competition for my sites, or maybe it’s just fact that the income goes up and down – if I had 100 sites in my arsenal it could be arather different story.
Clickbank:
April $0.00 May $0.00 June $0.00 (There was a sale which would have netted me $30 a month but it got refunded).
Wordpress Goldmine Affiliate Sales:
April: $20.48 May $19.98 June to be reviewed at month end but should be 3 subscribers so around $28.
Other sales:
I am promoting other items too, one of which I should have sold 2 subscriptions earning me $20 on each so thats at $40 per month.

Woweee some of you may say, and wowee I say too but I don’t care! Potentially thats $70 a month for life as long as I keep doing maintenance promotion.
Now Im working full time at this I am starting to see the fruits of my effort. Other people have had bigger successes and I congratulate them, but I am after all making progress udner my own steam, and it’s a good feeling.
To date, I still only own 6 or 7 sites and havent done nearly enough on all of them and for a long time have been.
Plus, it’s really only recently Ive been “getting it” and understanding the bigger picture.
Do you know… would it REALLY MATTER if it took me 5 years to reach a full time passive income? Some people would say thats not acceptable, but lets look another way.
Doctors study for 5-10 years, people in well paid professions study at university for 5 years without a guarantee of a job, plus when they retire, the money stops unles theyve got a brilliant pension. How good are pensions anyway these days?
Plus, they STILL have to go to work 40 hours a week when they are sick or ill and they still have to beg and plead like sick puppies for any time off, plus their bosses make them feel like crap day in day out.. no thanks…
Me, with ongoing maintenance, I can happily build this money up, and even one day pay outsourcers to take over 95% of the work leaving me to do what I want, when I want for the rest of my life.
If I want that £70,000 BMW I can have it.
Many people who have spent their WHOLE LIVES chasing their dreams get frustrated over and over and over each time they read stuff like this, because they are stressed that it’s not working for them.

Other news:
Search engine results page positioning is increasing almost daily. This is the key – having more and more pages of content that show up in the SERPS. I have spent the past few weeks doing just that – adding content to my sites and bookmarrking the pages(as well as some other techniques you’ll lear inside wpgm if you join).
One site I recently pushed, I targeted about 15 phrases – and wrote content for each phrase and 2 weeks later 90% of those phrases now show up on page 1 of Google.
I’ve also come to realise that all this time Ive been targetting keyword phrases with low search volume and low adsense earnings, so this is another factor that has influenced the overall earnings.

How To Start A Blogging Business
I want to make this guide as simple and as easy to follow as possible. If you are wanting to know how to start your own business based on blogging then I can most certainly help. There are a million routes to success with blogging, so you don’t have to follow a precise path, but you do have to follow certain rules which will be revealed later.
What is blogging?
Blogging is just the same as having a personal diary stuffed in your bedroom – you write things in it for safe keeping, except people all over the world have the chance to see your blog, so it’s a good way to share ideas, articles and thoughts.
Blogs represent you and your innermost thoughts so they can be as personal as you’d like them to be.
How do I start a blogging business?
Well in a nutshell you write about products and services, with the view to making money out of them.
Millions of people every day of the year log on to the internet search for things to buy.
Your job is to be that website that they click on to in order to get the sale. they are going to buy anyway, so why not from you?
Where and how do I start?
(Quick note: Starting any business is likely to incur some costs up front, but if done right you can soon recoup those costs. Blogging is no different, if done correctly – don’t be swayed by offers of totally free hosting – the pitfalls are numerous – many people have lost entire blogs when hosting has gone down, so buyer aware is the advice I can offer to you!)
Ok, let me help by explaining all to you. First of all you need a blog to write in right? Just like you need a diary that you have to go to the store and purchase you need somewhere to write electronically.
There are many places you can start, some are free, some are paid. Personally I’d say keep it free. However I strongly suggest you get your own paid hosting to host the blog. Hostgator is my first choice. Their customer service is outstanding and you can get started hosting multiple blogs all in for one price of just $7 a month which for a business expense is incredible.
Then you need to decide which blog to use – in other words, what kind of diary to use.
You want one that Google can easily find, and likes a lot, and is likely to put high into the search engine results page(SERPS). The one I recommend the most, and in fact the only one I use, is called Wordpress. It’s got a technical name called a CMS(content management solution), but suffice to say Wordpress is one of the best, and its free, and it can be installed on your hosting easily by clicking a few buttons!
Once you get your hosting, go into your control panel, look for a button called Fantastico, then choose a Wordpres installation. I wont go into it in detail here (but ask me if you ned help).
How do I make money?
Well, you are going to need products to sell, or recommend aren’t you. They can be your own products or you can recommend other peoples products and make a commision for each one you sell. This is called Affiliate marketing – whereby you are an affiliate for other peoples products.
You can also build websites/blogs that have nothing but content on them, ie words, phrases, thoughts, product reviews etc, and then ahve advertsiing appear on your blog. Google offer advertising called Adsense which places adverts on your blog, and those adverts will be relevant to the content on your site.
How do I actually make money in my blogging business then?
Well, you can have a nice loking site with 10,000 pages of content, but if those pages arent anywhere to be seen, then nobody is looking at them and you wont make money.
To do this you have to try and find the people who are interested in your topics and try to get them to come to your site.
How do you actually DO this though? Well, think about it – where do people go when they want to know something? They open up their internet and type into Google or Yahoo or Bing etc, what they want to know.
When they hit the enter or return button, a load of websites show up – these are called the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS).
If your blog was to show up on those results pages then there is a chance that some of those people will click through and look at your site – hey presto your first visitor!
Your job is to find what phrases people are typing into the search engines.
Imagine if you realise or discover that 1000 people every day earch for a phrase, and they type in “Pink Fluffy Slippers For Sale”
If your blog was called Pink Fluffy Slippers then your blogs content is HIGHLY RELEVANT to what the searcher is looking for.
The search engines like to show HIGHLY RELEVANT CONTENT to the searcher. If they can master this then they keep their searchers using them – basic business sense.
If Google shows information on Blue shiny shoes each time people want to buy pink fluffy slippers there is a strong chance people will get annoyed and fed up and go to another search engine. So it is important top Google(etc) that they only show relevant content in the SERPS.
What are the steps involved to grow a business in blogging?
Find the phrases people enter into the search engines. Googles external keyword tool will help – go to it, enter a general phrase relating to your topic and it will list the phrases people type in, along with how many times a month that phrase is being searched for. You will also get an idea for how many competing websites also want to get onto page 1 for the same phrase – so look for phrases which high search volume and low comeptition. This can take some time to learn but you can learn more about it by joining me at Wordpress Goldmine – a membership based forum Ive been at since October 2009. It is one of the friendliest places I have ever been lucky enough to come across.
Once youve discovered a suitable phrase, write a article about that phrase, at least 300-500 words long, and then make sure you include the phrase in the topic about 2 or 3 times, no more. Then create a hyperlink. Link that bit of text that is the phrase and link it to your product you want to sell.
Rinse and repeat, and eventually your page should start to show up in the SERPS for when people type that phrase in.

Well, as you will know I am now in my first full month of doing this stuff full time.
It’s also like I’m starting from scratch too, but hey ho.
It normally takes a while for things to start happening, and that is the case.
I have been working on adding backlinks to 2 or 3 phrases picked up in the rank tracker plugin for wordpress, good if you want to know how to get site indexed by google I am using, and all I can say is wow. Each phrase has now blasted on to page 1 of google and my main one I wanted to rank for has hit position 1(again! lol) – its embarrasing but seeming to beocme a normal occurence – especially the bit about hitting page 1.. sigh this I.M. suff sure is “hard” 
Joking aside, Ive noticed a minor increase in Adsense but nothing to write home about so Ill wait a few weeks to see if a definite upwards swing is observed.
The adding of backlinsk is showing in higher number of daily site views though, so all is good.
Im going to start working on a new niche today though, a well-researched one, and try some videos to promote it, so cant wait on that front.
The trend is definitely “upwards”.

Ok, since I decided to leave my job to focus on Internet marketing full time I have been dealing with a few last minute issues (and still got some more) but at last I’ve been able to put in some quality time building backlinks.
The rank tracker plugin for wordpress I purchased a few weeks ago is REALLY doing me some justice!
It’s showing me phrases now I hadn’t even thought about, and yesterday I got set to work on one phrase.
Today that phrase now dominates PAGE 1 of Google in
around 7 or 8 slots out of 10 – some would say that is a great result.
Not bad for 3-4 hours of work.
On to today I have been building backlinks to a second phrase and just 2 hours later I’ve checked and already have THREE
links on page 1 of Google (two of which are in positions one and two).
Am I excited?
YOU BET I AM!!!!
Work hard on your dreams – or should I say work SMART!
All I have done is become a real student and follow the advice I have been slowly learning at Wordpress Goldmine.
I joined in October 2009 and at the same time was left with some devastating news that basically put me out of the picture for 5 or 6 months.

Well, as the old saying goes, there aint no smoke without a fire.
Right now there’s a lot of smoke, and just for the sake of getting a pun into this blog post, things are progressing nicely, and a fire is rumbling underneath it all!
Adsense: £0.00 (BIG jump in traffic though!)
Amazon £0.40 (3rd item from yesterday got shipped)
Clickbank £0.00
OK so it’s still small numbers but in another aspect when you look at the business overall, it continues to tick along nicely.
Traffic still flows. This is key.
One of my sites saw a really big spike in traffic yesterday and I noticed traffic coming from bt.com search engine which has provided much of the extra boost, especially since my site’s inner page is ranked in position one there.
And for those people who have just arrived here – yes I’ve been doing this since October 2009, but my father in law passed away around the same time and we have had to deal with his estate which has been time consuming, to say the least.
I’ve actually committed to working at this game full time now so I’m expecting to see good rises steadily each month.
What did surprise me is the site whose pages went to position one, and the spike in traffic – giving over 70 unique vistors a day which is over 2000 a month, so now my mind is sharpening up and I need to focus on getting the most bang for buck from that site.

Each day I work tirelessly and think I’ve got all the methods down to a tee, and all I need to do is work the magic.
Then I read in the Wordpress Goldmine forum how a friend has turned a simple blog that makes $50 a month into a blog that makes $600 a month, every month.

Well just as here in the Uk the govornment are preparing to see who will lead our country for the next 5 years I am preparing too.
Today is my first full time day of Internet Marketing.
The real hard slog begins next week as I still have a few things left to tie up, but I am excited for the battle ahead.
Anyway, as for the results of “again” no work being done for almost 6+ weeks lets take a look, just for the sake of keeping a record:

So that’s my free money done, Ive got a new PC coming today at some point, plus some tasks to get on with so Ill get another update out in the coming days.
No more sitting stale, I am going to be increasing: Number of sites built and number of backlinks to each site. That is my aim from now on so each month ends report should see ongoing increases starting with the end of this month.
After a few weeks I am hoping to see gradual daily increases so that should then begin to be an exciting story to read.

Hi, My name is Shaun Baird. That’s me at the top of the Blog .
I have to tell you all about the ideal income opportunity (in my opinion) but I just quickly want to touch on something.
Looking at your life, when you are down and out, and life is bringing you nothing but misery after misery and stress after stress, each day seems like a constant headache.
I know it’s hard when life gets tough and I know all you want to do is “work on your business ideas” but there is never enough time. The kids won’t let you and the other half always seems to have something for you to do.
The house always needs tidying and it always seems to be left down to you, so that you are always in a constant state of “limbo”.
Well that was my life until October 2009 when I decided upon my own home based business. It had to have the following magical ingredients to be worth it:
1: Give me passive income
2: Be real
3: Not actually be an “opportunity”, where you have to join and refer others.
4: Be able to stand the test of time.
That’s all I wanted, something honest and legitiate I could just knuckle down and get working at.
So with that in mind I looked at a few ideas for starting my own business – brick and mortar businesses, mlm programs (for the passive income opportunity – you just cant beat money that kesp on coming in long after you’ve done all the hard work), and selling things on eBay.
I eventually made contact with a really good old friend who I’d co-worked with about 6 years ago. Back then he was doing things with blogs and all that sort of stuff but it didn’t interest me so I carried on building websites and growing a mailing list.
When I crossed paths with him again in October 2009 he told me he was still doing blogs and was actually making SERIOUS amounts of money – over 5 figures every month.
It always seems to be everyone else who has the success!
Grr!
Anyway, my money had dried up and to cut a long story short I gave it a go, even though my heart wasn’t really interested in it.
Fast forward 8 months and I couldn’t be happier. I am amazed that I have actually enjoyed doing this when I started it not being really bothered.
It’s because it actually works – for once. The one thing I’d avoided is the one thing that works, and very well.
I’ve actually managed to see huge success. I’ve learned so much, and I’ve managed to get my blog(s) sitting VERY NICELY on page 1 of Google, and seeing the benefits of that too.

Also, the best thing is that the income is honestly passive to the point you can go away on vacation for as long as you want and the money keeps on coming in.
